Technical Challenges
FRP tank had a 50 cm crack on the top surface. Client required the tank to operate in its original condition without replacement of tank. To repair and rebuild the FRP tank back to its working condition, Composite Material Repair was the best solution. The repair took five days to complete.
Technical Solutions
Our composite materials specialist team prepared the surface of tank. SMARTSTIC epoxy stick underwater was first applied and covered with galvanised sheet. Stainless steel pipe clip was then used to anchor the galvanized sheet to the tank. The curing time was 12 hours. Next day, the tank was coated with metal repair putty and left to cure for another 12 hours. On the third day, the tank was wrapped with 2 layers of resin activated fiberglass and covered with resin & activator. On the fourth day, the tank was painted to its final colour.
